Pader district boss on the spot over diverting grinding machine

PADER-Justine Ocen, the Pader District LCV Vice Chairperson is on the spot for allegedly diverting a maize grinding machine meant for Porogali Sub-county.

The machine, which was acquired by the government through the Ministry of Agriculture and the NAADs Secretariate under the Community Agricultural Infrastructure Improvement Programme-CAIIP in 2019 to promote maize value chain development.

David Odongkara, the LCIII Chairperson of Porogali Sub-county told our reporter that the machine was diverted and installed at Amoko trading centre in Latanya Sub-county.

Odongkara said that has been kept in three different places belonging to relatives of Ocen, the Latanya Sub-county LCV Councilor.

According to Odongkara, several attempts were made to recover and redirect the machine to the initial area where it was meant to be installed.

Milton Odongo, the Pader Resident District Commissioner says following the concern of the leaders of Porogali Sub-county, an investigation was launched, leading to the recovery of the machines.

“Police discovered some parts of the machine at the home of Nelson Oketa, the LCI Chairperson of Olang-nono, Patrick Oyet, LCI Chairperson of Lamingonyiko and from the shop of Santa Lakot,” Odongo said.

Odongo says that preliminary investigation shows that Ocen, directed that the machine is taken to Amoko trading center in Latanya Sub-county and not Porogali for reasons yet to be known.

Our efforts to get a comment from Ocen, who at the time served were futile as he neither picked nor returned our phone calls.
