Absa Africa Financial Markets Index 2025 to launch on October 16

KAMPALA, October 6, 2025 — For the ninth consecutive year, the Absa Africa Financial Markets Index will evaluate the development of financial markets across Africa, with a particular focus on market accessibility, openness, and transparency.
Produced by the UK’s Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum [OMFIF] and sponsored by Absa Group, the index assesses the performance of 29 African countries, with technical support from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
The 2025 edition will be launched on October 16, in Washington D.C., featuring the latest analysis that combines quantitative data with survey insights from over 50 organisations, including central banks, stock exchanges, financial regulators, market participants, and international development agencies.
This year’s report delves into key developments shaping Africa’s financial landscape, including: The diversification of financial products; Adoption and integration of environmental, social and governance [ESG] frameworks; The future of digital innovation in financial markets; Ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory environments.
The index serves as a vital benchmark for investors, policymakers, and financial stakeholders, highlighting how reforms and innovation across the continent can enhance investment attractiveness and promote economic resilience.
