DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — More than 1,200 cooperative sector leaders, policymakers, regulators, development partners and industry experts from 40 countries are expected to converge in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 11–16 October 2026 for the 26th SACCA Congress.
The Congress, described as Africa’s premier cooperative event, will focus on strengthening trust and driving transformation in the continent’s financial cooperative sector.
Held under the theme, “Building Trust, Driving Transformation: The Future of Financial Cooperatives in Africa,” the six-day event will provide a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, share practical experiences and discuss ways of strengthening the governance and innovation of credit unions.
The Prime Minister of Tanzania Lameck Mwingulu Nchemba is expected to be the Guest of Honour at the event organised by the Savings and Credit Cooperative Union League of Tanzania [SCCULT] in partnership with the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations [ACCOSCA].
Organisers say the Congress will bring together participants from six continents, with more than 50 speakers expected to contribute to discussions on the future of financial cooperatives in Africa.
Key discussions will centre on how effective governance and innovation can strengthen member confidence and help African credit unions achieve sustainable growth and deliver lasting impact.
The Congress will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders in the cooperative movement to share experiences and explore approaches that can improve the resilience and effectiveness of financial cooperatives across the continent.
