ZAMBIA: 30 dairy cooperatives receive seed, fertiliser

NALISHEBO NAMAIKO, Lusaka: Thirty dairy cooperatives from four provinces have received pasture seed and fertilizer under input distribution exercise for the 2018/2019 farming season.
The Dairy Association of Zambia (DAZ) said the exercise is a scheduled activity under the Digital Information Management System (DIMS) project supported by the Swedish Embassy.

The selected dairy cooperatives from Southern, Lusaka, Central and Copperbelt provinces all fall under the DIMS project and have been selected to pilot the demonstration project.
DAZ executive manager Jeremiah Kasalo said the distribution exercise in targeted dairy cooperatives is a way of encouraging farmers to use pastures in their production to reduce the cost of buying animal feed concentrates.

“We have a pilot programme under the DIMS project involving input distribution and the inputs include pasture seed and fertilizer for demonstration purposes here
