The events, hosted at the Conference Centre in Panama City from September 13-18, 2026, will bring together cooperative leaders from around the world under the theme “Building Bridges: Cooperative Contributions for a Peaceful World.”

A newly launched website provides a single access point for all key information, including the provisional programme, speaker listings, side events, and practical travel guidance such as visa requirements, accommodation, and transport options.

“The website is a one-stop-shop for ICA members to plan their trip to Panama,” he said. “The Global Conference and Assemblies are a vital space for cooperators to meet in person to examine the strategic role of cooperatives in addressing global challenges, strengthen international networks and partnerships, and share insights from diverse regional and sectoral experiences.”

Douglas highlighted the significance of the gathering following the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives, as the ICA advances its 2026–2030 strategy, Practice, Promote, Protect, and continues exploring the role of cooperatives in fostering peace and inclusive societies.

“We look forward to welcoming cooperatives and cooperators from around the world to Panama to take part in these important conversations and help shape the future of the cooperative movement,” he added.

The website, developed by Argentinian cooperatives Coomunicaar and CoopArSI, will be updated regularly as the programme is finalised. Meanwhile, registration remains open.

Call for sponsors: “Build bridges” in Panama

Organisers have also issued a call for sponsors and partners to support the conference, describing it as a unique opportunity for organisations to engage with global cooperative leadership at a pivotal moment for the movement.

The Panama gathering is expected to attract more than 1,500 cooperative leaders and members, offering sponsors high-level visibility alongside opportunities for cultural exchange and regional engagement.
