Holders Vipers visit BUL As SC Villa face Maroons in FUFA Super 8

KAMPALA– The third edition of the FUFA Super 8 tournament unfolds this Thursday, with interesting matches lined up to officially welcome the return of the pre-season competition following a four-year hiatus due to Covid-19.

At FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, holders Vipers SC visit Bul FC in a highly anticipated clash.

It will be the first competitive game for coaches on either side, Abbey Bogere Kikomeko at BUL FC and Brazilian coach Leonardo Martins Neiva for Vipers SC.

“The match will also be a chance and stage for both sides to unleash their new signings,” FUFA says on its website.

The two clubs have been busy in the transfer window and will hope that this tournament helps them to get into perfect shape before the new season starts.

Some of BUL’s new arrivals include Edrine Opaala, Joel Madondo, Lawrence Tezikya and Joel Mutakubwa among others.

Vipers on the other hand have added Paul Mbowa, David Bagoole, Richard Matovu, Grant Matsiko and a big legion of foreign players.

The last time the two teams faced off, the gane ended in a one all draw with Karim Watambala late penalty cancelling out Samuel Ssekamatte’s strike for Bul.

The second game on Thursday will see SC Villa taking on Maroons FC at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Both teams have gone about their transfer business quietly and will hope to replicate or even better the shift they put in last season.

SC Villa put up a title challenge until the final day of the league but could only settle for third.

The task for new coach Dasan Stajanovic will be to maintain the same mentality starting with his first competitive game against Maroons today.

Maroons finished seventh in the league last season under Mohammed Ssenfuma and were one of the tough teams to face. With more additions, the Prison Warders will be hoping for an upgrade and the FUFA Super 8 presents an opportunity to test the waters.

Quarter final action will climax on Friday, 11th August with two games that will see KCCA FC take on Wakiso Giants FC at MTN Omondi Stadium while URA FC will welcome Soltilo Bright Stars FC at Mehta stadium, Lugazi.

All matches will be live on FUFA Tv.

The FUFA Super 8 is proudly Sponsored by MTN and Nile Special.
