The performance represents a 25.9 percent increase in profit before tax, according to the group’s consolidated unaudited financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2026

KAMPALA, August 18, 2026 – Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited posted a strong financial performance in the first half of 2026, with profit before tax rising to Shs 447.1 billion from Shs 355.2bln recorded during the same period in 2025.

The performance represents a 25.9 percent increase in profit before tax, according to the group’s consolidated unaudited financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2026.

The growth was accompanied by an expansion in lending activity, with customer loans increasing by 8.2 percent to Shs 5.3 trillion, compared with Shs 4.9trn advanced in the corresponding period last year.

The lender said the increase in customer loans supported households and businesses, highlighting continued demand for credit across the economy.

Customer deposits also grew strongly, rising by 9.4 percent to Shs 9.2trn from Shs 8.4trn recorded in the first half of 2025.

The growth in deposits provided the group with a larger funding base to support lending and other financial activities during the period.

Stanbic Uganda Holdings’ total assets stood at Shs 13.4trn as of June 30, 2026, compared with Shs1 1.8trn at the end of the corresponding period in 2025.

Cash and balances with the Bank of Uganda increased to Shs 1.3trn, up from Shs1.16trn recorded in the same period last year.

The group’s return on equity also improved, increasing by 3.5 percentage points to 30.4 percent, indicating stronger returns generated from shareholders’ funds.

Interim dividend

The improved financial performance has also enabled Stanbic Uganda Holdings to reward shareholders with an interim dividend.

The Board of Directors, at a meeting held on August 13, 2026, approved an interim dividend of Shs 4.30 per share for the period ended June 30, 2026.

The dividend amounts to a total payout of Shs 220bln.

The approval followed the group’s reported net profit of Shs 357bln for the six months of 2026, representing a 28.2 percent increase from the net profit recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

The half-year results point to continued balance-sheet growth for Stanbic Uganda Holdings, driven by increased lending, stronger customer deposits and growth in total assets, while maintaining higher returns to shareholders.
