Police in Serere arrest sisters over murder of father

SOROTIPolice in Serere district are holding  four alleged demon- possed sisters in connection to the murder of their father.

The suspects include Deborah Achumo, Esther Achom, Susan Ikwadi and Martha Akwango all residents of Igola II village, Okulonyo parish in Olio sub-county.

They are being accused for allegedly murdering their father John Okure aged 65 years old, a retired worker at Igola Research Institute in Serere district.

According to the police statement issued by the police Spokesperson Fred Enaga on Monday, 20 June, 2022, the police preliminary investigations indicate that on the 15 June, 2022, a one Martha Akwango returned from school while crying, after she got possessed by evil spirits.

” When she reached at their home, her three other sisterse Deborah Achumo, Esther Achom and Susan Ikwadi  started praying over her, to cast away the demons that had attacked her”, Enaga said in a statement.

He adds that during the prayers, the trio  while casting out demons from their younger sister, attacked their father inside the home they shared, and beat him to death. 

According to Enaga after allegedly killing their father, the suspects further poked out both his eyes, which in their vision was fired with evil spirit and the cause of the demonic attacks on them.

“The attack was so violent that blood splatter was seemingly everywhere and both eyes poked out”, the police spokesperson notes.

Enaga explained the incident as a spiritually influenced attacked  on their allegedly devilish father, that is very difficult for any normal person to comprehend. 

He reveals that investigations in to the matter are under way and once complete, the suspects will be charge will charges of murder.

Section 188of the Penal Code  Act states that “any person who of malice a fore thought causes the death of another person by unlawfull act or omission commits murder and shall if convicted be sentenced to death.
