Partners to host landmark career fair to enhance regional employment and talent development

KAMPALA, October 14, 2025 — In a bold step towards decentralising employment opportunities and promoting youth employability, BrighterMonday Uganda [BMU], one of the country’s leading recruitment platforms, has partnered with the Islamic University in Uganda [IUIU] to launch the BrighterMonday Uganda Career Fair: Eastern Edition.

The partners made the revelation yesterday during a joint press conference held at IUIU’s Kampala Campus. The much-anticipated career fair, the first of its scale in the Eastern Region this year, is set to take place from October 17-18, 2025 at IUIU’s Main Campus in Mbale City.

The event was led by key stakeholders including Dr Taha Ahmad Kasule, Director of the IUIU Kampala Campus; Dr Yunus Walusimbi, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies; Imma Audrey Grace, Head of Learning and Development at BrighterMonday Uganda; and Jeff Luboga, Head of Workforce Development.

Kasule underscored the university’s commitment to equipping young people for the world of work.

“At IUIU, we believe that academic success must translate into employability,” he said. “This partnership is a powerful bridge between classroom learning and the job market. The fair is that final, crucial step in preparing our graduates for dignified work.”

He encouraged students to take full advantage of such platforms, adding that the university’s personal journey programmes are tailored to support career development in alignment with Uganda’s national employment goals for 2030.

Speaking on behalf of BrighterMonday Uganda, Imma Audrey Grace highlighted the importance of extending such initiatives beyond Kampala.

“We are extremely grateful for this collaboration with IUIU,” she said. “The Eastern Region is brimming with talent and a ready youth workforce. This fair is a direct investment in the region’s economy and an opportunity to bring over 40 top employers to the heart of this talent pool.”

Uganda’s youth aged 18 to 30 make up more than 22 percent of the population, and the fair seeks to respond to the pressing need for employment and career growth opportunities for this demographic.

“This is not just a job fair,” Grace added. “It is a full-scale career development event – combining recruitment, skills training, and professional networking – to ensure that young people are not just employed, but employable in a sustainable way.”

Key highlights of the fair

Employer Access: On-site recruitment and candidate screening by major employers in agribusiness, manufacturing, trade, and telecommunications, with a focus on Mbale and the broader Eastern region.

Career Readiness Workshops: Interactive sessions led by BrighterMonday’s human resource experts to boost digital profiles, curriculum vitae [CV] writing, and interview preparation.

Soft Skills Development: Targeted training in communication, teamwork, professional ethics, and problem-solving to support holistic career growth.

Entrepreneurship Corner: A platform for young innovators to pitch business ideas and connect with mentors and potential investors.

Networking Sessions: Structured speed-networking opportunities linking job seekers with industry leaders and recruiters.

With over 5,000 job seekers expected to attend from across Eastern Uganda and neighbouring regions, the fair is poised to become a major hub for talent identification and employment outside the central region.

The BrighterMonday–IUIU partnership represents a growing trend of university–private sector collaboration aimed at addressing youth unemployment and building a future-ready workforce.
