Napak district offers farm inputs to UPDF

NAPAK – Napak District Local Government in Karamoja Sub-region has offered farm inputs to the Third Division of Uganda People’s Defence Force [UPDF].

While handing over the farm inputs days ago, the Napak district agriculture officer, Abraham Nangiro asked the UPDF soldiers to embrace commercial farming, saying it would improve their livelihoods.

The inputs including insecticides and spray pumps were received from Maj James Otai, the division’s political commissar.

Maj. Otai said that inputs would be helpful in the ongoing agricultural projects being undertaken by the soldiers to boost food production.

“As UPDF, we thank the district leadership for extending such support and always cooperating with security forces,” he said.

The UPDF Third Division headquartered in Napak district takes charge of Moroto, Katakwi, Amuria, Kapelebyongo, and Soroti districts. The districts and army leaders enjoy a good working relationship.

Last year, the UPDF joined efforts of ensuring food security in the country by launching commercial production of maize, soybeans, and sorghum. This is after the got financial support from the Ministry of Agriculture’s Food Security Acceleration Project.
