Mbale Metropolitan Rotary Club installs new president
The installation of Walimbwa took place last Saturday at the Mbale Courts View Hotel in Mbale City.
MBALE CITY, July 17, 2024 – The Director and Founder of Elgon Ngoma Troupe, Julius Walimbwa is the new President of Mbale Metropolitan Rotary Club, succeeding HCP Richard Obuwa.
The installation of Walimbwa took place last Saturday at the Mbale Courts View Hotel in Mbale City.
In his inaugural address, Walimbwa expressed gratitude to the Rotarians for entrusting him with the club leadership for the next one year.
He said he would focus on mobilisation and recruit more members into the club. “I am going to start recruiting new members into the club so that we can get more projects and continue supporting our communities in need,” he said.
Walimbwa said he is committed to empowering both boys and girls in the community, and addressing key issues such as literacy and basic education, child and maternal health, and environmental conservation.
He appealed the public to join the Rotary Club of Mbale Metropolitan, highlighting that a larger membership would facilitate better identification and support of needy communities.
“Rotary is fun as it allows us to get to know one another in terms of business and other aspects of life where we need each other,” he noted.
He said the benefits of Rotary, includes business linkages, community service, leadership development, and opportunities for fellowship and travels.
