Masindi health centres receive motorcycles to boost service delivery

MASINDI, May 9, 2024 – Four health centres in Masindi district have received four motorcycles worth Shs 24 million from government.

The motorcycles were handed over to the officials in charge of the health centres on Tuesday by the Masindi Resident District Commissioner, Emmy Ngabirano at function held at the district headquarters.

He called upon the in-charges of the health centres to use them to improve immunisation coverage and outreaches.

The four motorcycles, each costing government Shs 6 million, were given to Mihembero Health Centre II, Kigezi Health Centre II, Pakanyi Pakanyi Health Centre III, and  Kichandi Health Centre III, respectively.

Speaking at the same function, the Masindi district LCV Chairman, Cosmas Byaruhanga appealed  the In-charges who  received motorcycles on behalf of the health centres to improve the health service delivery.

“Now the challenge of inadequate transport means has been solved. Make sure that service in the health care system is improved,” he noted.

The Principal Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Musa Kyamiza said the in-charges of the four health facilities were facing challenges in terms of transport yet they play a critical role in the running of the facilities.

“I call upon you not to misuse these motorcycles. Don’t turn them into boda boda and luggage carriers. They are supposed to do health work,” he warned.

On their part, the in-charges of the beneficiary health centres appreciated government for providing them with the motorcycles, saying  they will now be able to provide better services since the issue of transport has been solved.
