Koboko United SACCO installs new board

KOBOKO – Koboko United SACCO Limited has appointed new members of the board into office and the team is expected to steer the SACCO to prosperity.

The SACCO founded by the late Francis Ayume, the former Attorney General, appointed Dada Caroline Agnes, as the vice chairperson while Juruga John, Florence Ajonye, Dickson Driliga were appointed as board members. Isaac Todoko Peter, retained his position as the SACCO board chairperson.

During the handover ceremony held days ago, Todoko called for cooperation and unity between the board and management if the SACCO its goal. “This SACCO is helping the members to fight poverty as they earn dividends after buying shares. As we join the office, we need not interfere with the work of the management team, and management should not interfere with our work,” he noted.

The general manager of the SACCO, Alfred Alema, urged the new  board members to ensure that the SACCO is helped to achieve its objective through strategic planning. “Our number is steadily growing and it is through good planning that we can survive,” he said.

Alema added: “We have opened another branch in Keri in addition to the main branch in Koboko Municipality. So we need your help as board as we grow.”

On his part, the mayor of Koboko Municipality, Wilson Sanya, assured the SACCO of government support.

He urged other SACCOs in the area to emulate Koboko United SACCO Limited by having a functional board. “Board members help to offer policy direction for SACCOs. I ask SACCOs that don’t have board members to copy from this example of Koboko United SACCO Limited,” the mayor said.

Koboko United SACCO Limited has a total asset capital of Shs 5 billion. The SACCO owns tractors, motorcycles, several buildings in the centre of Koboko town, and hardware shops among others.
