Fort Portal boda boda association launches safety App

Fort portal – The Fort Portal City Boda Boda Association has launched the Super Boda App to improve the safety of boda boda riders and their customers.

While launching the Supper Boda App, the Fort Portal Central Division Member of Parliament, Alex Ruhunda said this was one way of making boda boda service safe for both riders and passengers.

“As the chairperson of the Parliamentary committee on road safety, I see this as a milestone because the App will be providing information on both the rider and the passenger which will reduce the killing of boda boda riders, theft as well as reduce accidents,” he said.

Ruhunda said with Super Boda App, all the information about the rider and the passenger will always show in the system which can help in trucking them in case something happens.

He called upon people to embrace the App, saying it works as a protection system for both a rider and a passenger.

“With this system, wearing a helmet is a must for both a rider and a passenger. Embracing safety measures is key and I would encourage that we take up this system countrywide,” he said.

Ruhunda appealed to the boda boda association leaders to ensure that their members are safe on the road.

The chairperson of the association, Edward Rugumayo said as leaders they have always tried to ensure they work with security organs to reduce the killing of boda boda riders and theft of their motorcycles.

He however noted that with the Super Boda App system, they will be in position to know who has gone where and with which passenger because the system will be capturing their details.

“I appeal to all boda boda riders to embrace the system and preach the gospel to other colleagues for their own good and the good of our industry,” he said.

He encouraged boda boda riders to love their job and embrace road safety measures to reduce road accidents.

Twaha Murungi the innovator of the Super Boda App said the main aim is to revolutionalise the boda boda industry in rural and urban Africa.

“We are aiming at improving on the boda boda industry through the provision of safe, convenient, and good riding services,” he said.

He said users are expected to download the app on their phones in order to access the services.
