Dokolo leaders laud Museveni over PDM, Emyooga

DOKOLO, March 26, 2024 – Leaders in Dokolo district recently appreciated President Museveni for initiating poverty eradication programmes, saying they are contributing immensely to improving peoples` livelihoods, incomes, and production.

According to Dokolo North Member of Parliament, Moses Ogwal Goli under the Parish Development Model [PDM], and Emyooga programmes, the district has so far received over Shs 8 billion for the beneficiaries engaged in job and wealth creation, as well as commercial agriculture.

He applauded Museveni for prevailing peace in Northern Uganda, saying it has provided an enabling environment for agricultural production and business growth.

“You also work as principal for the issues of livelihood and I want to give the data of what has never happened in Dokolo from last year to date,” Ogwal recently told President Museveni who was at Atubu Primary School campaigning for Adongo Janet Elau of the National Resistance Movement [NRM] before she lost to Sarah Aguti of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party in a by-election for Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament.

“In Dokolo North we received Shs 4.3bln under PDM, Dokolo South Shs 2.8bln and Emyooga for both constituencies sh1.1b giving us a total of Shs 8.2bln. “We want to thank you a lot because we had never received such money since Dokolo attained district status in 2026,” Ogwal said.

Ogwal further commended government for providing Shs 1bln for roads in the district in this financial year 2023/2024, saying good roads will ease transportation, and boost trade in the district.

On her part, Dr Grace Hanna Lalam, who stepped down in favour of Adongo before the latter was defeated in the Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by-election held last week, said Museveni is a true leader capable of liberating the people of Uganda out of poverty.

The NRM Chairperson of Atabu village, James Odongo called upon the President Museveni to extend electricity to the area, and improve school infrastructure, and Atubu Health Centre II.

He also called upon the beneficiaries of both the PDM and Emyooga in the area to utilise the money for the right purposes but not to spend on alcohol.
