Indian businessman killed in Kikuube lodge

KIKUUBE– Police in the Albertin region are investigating the circumstances under which an Indian businessman based in Hoima Municipality was murdered in Kikuube district by unknown suspects.

The deceased, identified as Mike Sultan, and a resident of Hoima Municipality, was Tuesday morning found dead in a room at Kasonga guest house found in Kasonga village, Kasonga parish, Kyangwali sub-county in Kikuube district.

Preliminary information shows that the deceased traveled to Kyangwali on Monday to supply his clients with merchandise including; soap, cooking oil, sugar, biscuits, and salt among others.

He is said to have checked in at the guest house at around 6:30 pm after supplying the merchandise.

The guesthouse management became suspicious when the guest failed to wake up in the morning. Edward Alinda, the supervisor of the guest house, said they were compelled to go to the room only to find Sultan lying dead on his bed.
He said he immediately informed the police who rushed to the scene of crime.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson confirmed the incident adding the deceased was killed by strangling.

He said the suspected killers accessed the room of the deceased through the ceiling of the guest house after they cut the iron sheets.

He said that the murderers tied him with rope before strangling adding that the deceased was found with wounds in the neck. It also alleged the killers went away with over Shs 30 million belonging to the deceased.

Hakiiza said two people including, the driver of the deceased Moses Muvamuno Ssalongo and the guest house manager were arrested to help with police investigations.

He said that the canine dog led to the arrest of the suspects after they introduced the dog to the scene.
