KAMPALA, November 22, 2024 — On Monday next week The 2024 ICA Global Conference will hit Indian soil for the first time in its 130 years! New Delhi will host cooperators from around the world, who will explore the role of cooperatives in creating a collective, peaceful, and prosperous future for all.
There will be inspirational speakers and provocative panel debates, and delegates will co-create cooperative visions and strategies during multiple break-out sessions. The conference theme “Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All”, celebrates cooperatives as people-centred, purpose-led, and progress-driven enterprises.
The six-day event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The programme will also have the special presence of Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Shri Amit Shah.
The event officially launches the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives 2025 [IYC2025] in the presence of global leaders, academics and practitioners. The IYC takes the theme “Cooperative Build a Better World”, to inspire cooperators worldwide to work together to strengthen the international cooperative movement, of which the ICA is the beating heart.
The Global Conference will be hosted by the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative [IFFCO] and the 18 ICA member organisations in India.
The International Cooperative Alliance is the voice of cooperatives worldwide. It advocates the interests and success of cooperatives, providing a global voice and forum for knowledge, expertise and co-ordinated action.
To implement its activities, the International Cooperative Alliance is organised with a Global Office based in Brussels, four Regional Offices [Africa, Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe], eight Global Sectoral Organisations [agriculture, banking, retail, fisheries, health, housing, insurance, and industry and services], and five Committees and Networks [gender, research, law, youth, and development].
