TCDC boss commissions construction of major coop building

DAR ES SALAAM, December 14, 2023 – The Commissioner and Chief Executive of Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission [ TCDC ], Dr. Benson Ndiege officially commissioned the construction of an office building for Lindi Mwambao Central Cooperative Association. The building is planned to cost over Tshs 416. 9 million.

Speaking at the event days ago, Ndiege said that the association has set a good example for the other cooperatives in Tanzania by embarking on building a modern office using its internal income. He said the office space will increase efficiency and responsibility in the performance of their daily duties.

“I hope that this project of your modern office will act as a catalyst for other cooperatives in the country to build their offices. I also encourage you to take good care of this building so that it can last for a long time,” said Ndiege.

He said that there are primary cooperatives in Tanzania that have been able to start development projects such as building infrastructures such as warehouses, offices, and guesthouses while other societies have been able to buy trucks to transport their produce to the warehouses.

The General Manager of the Lindi Mwambao Central Cooperative Association, Nurdin Swala said that the construction process followed all procedures and was approved by the board and members of the cooperative. The construction of the building will be completed in August 2024.

Swala said that when completed, the office building will help increase productivity by serving members and other stakeholders and increase work efficiency for executives and the board since it offers a good working environment.
