Zambia: NAZ SACCO to safeguard interests of members

NAIROBI– Leaders of the National Assembly of Zambia Savings and Credit Cooperative [ NAZ SACCO ] were urged to prioritise and safeguard members’ interests as it seeks to enhance its services, as well as increase the fund and membership portfolio.

The call was made by Kenyan cooperative officials during a recent engagement as NAZ SACCO leaders visited Bunge SACCO Limited owned by staff and legislators of the National Assembly of Kenya.

While in Nairobi, NAZ SACCO  leaders interacted with Kenya’s National Director of Cooperative Audit Javel Muthee Murira, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of the SACCO Society Regulatory Authority (SASRA), Peter Njuguna.

The Zambia National Assembly acting deputy clerk (Administration), Loveness Mayaka, during the same meeting thanked Bunge SACCO for according their SACCO an opportunity to learn from the Kenyan experiences, especially that Bunge SACCO is one of the SACCOs with a proven track record in the region, with over 52 years experience.

In the same vein, the NAZ SACCO board vice chairperson, Julius Kampamba, stated that the good practices and lessons from the Bunge SACCO would be tailor made to catalyse the growth and meet the aspirations of the SACCO members.

Further, the NAZ SACCO general manager, Sage Samuwika, thanked the NAZ Management for facilitating the benchmarking visit to the Bunge SACCO, and for recognising the importance of the NAZ SACCO in uplifting and changing livelihoods of SACCO members.

Bunge SACCO was established in 1971, with a current membership of 2027 members that includes Members of Parliament.
