KAMPALA, August 4, 2025 –– Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited [ WSACCO ] has called on its branch managers to prioritise the provision of affordable and accessible services to members in their day-to-day operations.
The call was made by the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Colonel Yusuf Magero Buha, during a recent two-day training session for managers from WSACCO’s 19 branches nationwide.
The training, held at the WSACCO headquarters in Kiwatule, Kampala, was facilitated by the Uganda Cooperative Savings and Credit Union [UCSCU], the apex body for SACCOs in Uganda.
“You should not only focus on routine desk work, but also embrace the broader perspective of understanding members’ needs, expanding SACCO services, and advancing the vision and mission of Wazalendo SACCO, whose core is its membership,” said Buha.
He underscored the importance of strong coordination between branch offices and the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces [UPDF] command in the areas where branches are located, to ensure that members fully benefit from WSACCO’s services.
Buha also urged staff to apply the knowledge acquired during the training and to conduct self-assessments to ensure their work contributes meaningfully to the SACCO’s overall goals.
A key highlight of the training was the introduction of WSACCO’s new Cashflow Loan Product, which enables members to access larger loan amounts based on their cash flow and available collateral, moving beyond the traditional salary-based loan model.
Participants also received training in credit and financial analysis, cashflow lending models, and attitude management, among other topics.
The opening session was attended by senior management, including directors and heads of departments.
Col. Buha who was the Managing Director of Wazelendo Investments SMC Ltd [WIL] recently replaced former WSACCO CEO Brig Gen. Joseph Freddy Onata who nominated to attend the prestigious Grade One Course at the National Defence College – Uganda.
