TORORO-Police in Tororo district have arrested a woman suspected to have killed her husband in cold blood.
Mary Asio,42, allegedly killed her husband, Ladislus Onyango,45, following a domestic dispute.
The Bukedi South regional police spokesperson, Moses Mugwe, said Asio is detained at Tororo central police station on accusations of killing her husband.
“We are investigating circumstances under which she allegedly murdered a husband. We got a report from one Bernard Odem,39, the LC II Chairperson of Amagoro A parish in Eastern Division, Tororo Municipality that one Ladislus Onyango, a resident of the same address was killed,” he said.
According to police Odem heard an alarm from the home of the deceased.
“Upon his response to the alarm, he found the deceased on the bed covered and unconscious, with the wife not explaining what had transpired. A few minutes later, the reporter suspected the deceased was dead and immediately reported to the police,” Mugwe said.
Mugwe, however, said the body of the deceased was found lying on the bed while covered with a green bed sheet.
“Upon uncovering the body it was established that there was a bruise on the forehead, bruises on the left shoulder and a bruise on the joint next to his right-hand palm,” he said.
He said the suspect who is currently detained awaiting interrogation will be charged with murder after investigation.
Mugwe said the scene of the crime was visited by a team of detectives.
He said a number of relevant statements were recorded especially from the neighbours.
The body of the deceased was later taken to Tororo Municipal mortuary for postmortem.
