WFCU to host key annual events during GAC
MADISON, Wis., February 17, 2024 — Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions [ WFCU ] and their two major networks, Global Women’s Leadership Network [GWLN] and World Young Credit Union Professionals Network [WYCUP], will host two key annual events featuring global perspectives and insights during America’s Credit Unions’ 2024 Governmental Affairs Conference [GAC] in Washington DC.
WFCU will host its third annual Cooperative Voices event on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the International Spy Museum. The fundraising event gives WFCU Champions a look into how the Bridge the Gap campaign is helping credit unions bridge gaps in four areas: digitalization, leadership, gender equality and safety.
Four distinct voices will speak at the event, including: George Ombado [The African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations] and leadership from the Kenyan Ministry of Finance, and Gail Remy Rajkumar [GWLN Trinidad and Tobago Sister Society].
Others expected to speak at the event are Alisa Stetsyshyn with Kostiantyn Honcharenko [Project Storm Break], and Tyler Valentine [StagePoint Federal Credit Union].
This event will also feature special guest Chris Copeland from TruStage, the sponsor of Cooperative Voices, as well as an interactive activity and raffle where everyone is a winner. Attendees will have the opportunity to win several grand prizes including a 2024 World Credit Union Conference registration.
Cooperative Voices event registration closes on February 25th, 2024, with proceeds supporting the shared WOCCU, WFCU vision of expanding financial inclusion and credit unions worldwide.
GWLN will be kicking off its 15-year anniversary celebration with the GWLN Luncheon at GAC on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Washington Convention Center. Guests will hear stories from the GWLN global community, learn how members are working toward changing the numbers for women in leadership, and gain insight to the future of GWLN – forging a better, more inclusive world.
The luncheon at GAC engages the US credit union system with global women leaders, and this year will be welcoming guests from five continents, all working to bridge the gender gap. The GWLN Luncheon is presented by PSCU/Co-op Solutions.
WYCUP will also have a presence at GAC in 2024. WYCUP Programme Manager Ari Farrell will speak at the Filene Institute’s Crash the GAC event in Washington DC.
WYCUP is also bringing their very own Crasher to GAC, Emily Alexander, from the Association of British Credit Unions Limited [ABCUL]. As the WYCUP Crasher, Alexander will be immersed in a global credit union experience, gaining valuable insights as an emerging leader in the industry.
Alexander will also connect with the 2024 Crash the GAC delegation which is comprised of 58 talented credit union professionals from across the United States who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the credit union movement.
The Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, as the strategic partner of the World Council, bridges gaps impacting credit unions’ ability to grow and advance financial inclusion worldwide.
