UMA donates items worth Shs 200mln to Mbale hospital

The purpose of donating the items is to improve health service delivery and to support patients who can’t afford to buy such items for themselves.

MBALE, June 24, 2024 – Uganda Manufacturers Association [UMA] has donated assorted items to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital worth Shs 200 million to boost health service delivery.

The donation was handed over to the management of the hospital on Saturday by a team of UMA officials led by the Executive Director, Dr. Ezra Muhumuza Rubanda.

Muhumuza said that they donated items such as oxygen cylinders, beds, gloves, mosquito nets among others as part of UMA’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

He said that the purpose of donating the items is to improve health service delivery and to support patients who can’t afford to buy such items for themselves.

He urged other companies to emulate them and support the hospital since government alone can’t manage to support the health facility 100 percent.

Receiving the donated items, Dr. Stephen Obbo, the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital Director, expressed his happiness, saying the support will significantly improve service delivery at the hospital.

He urged other development partners to give more support to the hospital, stating that the hospital serves patients from the entire Eastern region.

Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, located in Mbale City, serves a population of over 4.6 million from the districts of Busia, Budaka, Namisindwa, Bududa, Bulambuli, Kween, Mbale, Kibuku, Bukwo, Butaleja, Pallisa, Manafwa, Sironko, Kapchorwa, Tororo among others.
