Standard Chartered Bank Uganda launches international banking

KAMPALA, February 27, 2024 – Standard Chartered Bank Uganda has today launched its International Banking [IB] product offering. Through IB, the Bank will now offer its clients access to global banking products and services offered in international financial centres including the UAE and the UK, amongst others.

Speaking during the launch of IB in Kampala, Standard Chartered Bank Uganda CEO, Sanjay Rughani stated that the introduction of IB in Uganda marks a significant milestone for Standard Chartered and signals a profound promise to cater to the evolving needs of its valued clients in Uganda.

“The launch of international banking is a pivotal moment for Standard Chartered Bank Uganda as we fortify our commitment to our clients by providing them with access to global financial opportunities,” he said, adding that the IB services enhance the Bank’s ability to offer tailored solutions and an expanded array of products that cater to diverse investment requirements, positioning its clients for sustained success on the international stage.”

He added: “As the Ugandan economy grows, the wealth of Ugandans grows as well. This means that there is a rising demand for wealth advisory services, portfolio management and a Bank like Standard Chartered Bank to advise them on where to invest. I therefore urge the Bank to continue providing financial advice and relevant, customised products to clients and companies looking to invest or develop their businesses both in Uganda and abroad.”
