Pride Bank wins big at the 2025 Annual Agricultural Excellence Awards

Held under the theme ‘Celebrating Excellence and Innovation in Agriculture’, the ceremony recognised institutions making outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector

KAMPALA, July 30, 2025 – Pride Bank Limited has been honoured with the Agri-Finance Award [Credit Finance] at the prestigious 2025 Annual Agricultural Excellence Awards.

Held under the theme ‘Celebrating Excellence and Innovation in Agriculture’, the ceremony recognised institutions making outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector. Pride Bank was commended for its exceptional role in agricultural financing and its transformative impact on Uganda’s agricultural value chains through innovative, inclusive, and scalable credit solutions.

The 2025 awards, held over the weekend at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala, brought together key stakeholders from the agricultural, financial, governmental, and development sectors to celebrate excellence in advancing Uganda’s agricultural agenda.

Pride Bank distinguished itself through its extensive rural outreach, a robust loan portfolio tailored to farmers’ needs, and its measurable impact on both agricultural productivity and financial inclusion.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Bank, Joseph Kiggundu Lwanga Mugerwa, Manager of Agri-Business and Green Finance said: “This recognition is both humbling and affirming. At Pride Bank, our purpose is to transform lives responsibly. Agriculture is the cornerstone of Uganda’s economy, and we are committed to investing in those who till the land, feed the nation, and drive rural development. This award is a tribute to their resilience and our shared vision.”

The accolade follows a strong year for Pride Bank in agri-financing, during which it disbursed over Shs 62 billion in agricultural loans. These funds supported more than 13,000 clients engaged across the agricultural value chain.

The bank’s flagship product, the Pride Agricultural Loan, continues to empower farmers through affordable credit, flexible repayment terms, and access to financial education.

A defining feature of Pride Bank’s approach is its end-to-end value chain financing, which connects producers, processors, and markets. This integrated model has helped mitigate production risks while enabling smallholder farmers to achieve more predictable cash flows.

Further, Pride Bank has fostered collaboration with farmer cooperatives, Saving and Credit Cooperative Organisations [SACCOs], and agricultural extension officers, creating a support ecosystem that extends beyond finance to capacity building and rural enterprise development.

Technology is also central to the bank’s agri-finance strategy. Clients benefit from digital services via mobile banking, agent networks, and USSD platforms—tools that have significantly reduced barriers to credit, especially for farmers in remote and underserved regions.

Nationally, the bank’s recognition aligns with Uganda’s strategic emphasis on agriculture as a key growth sector under Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan IV.

Representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries at the event, Steven Byantware, Commissioner for Crop Resources, commended Pride Bank for delivering accessible credit that promotes inclusive economic growth.

This award affirms Pride Bank Limited’s position as a leading driver of agricultural finance in Uganda and a trusted partner for farmers and agribusinesses seeking sustainable growth. The Agri-Finance Award not only celebrates the bank’s achievements but also reinforces its commitment to financing the future of Ugandan agriculture.
