KAMPALA,  July 8, 2025 –– Ugandans will have an opportunity to purchase high-quality electric appliances at affordable prices during Power and Elec Uganda 2025, scheduled to take place from July 10–12, 2025 at the Uganda Manufacturers Association [UMA] Show Ground in Lugogo, Kampala.

The two-day expo is organised by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in partnership with Exhibition and Trade Services India PVT Ltd [ETSIPL].

Also taking place is the Power and Electricity Forum 2025, slated for July 11th at the UMA Multipurpose Hall, under the theme: “The Future of Energy: Smart, Clean & Connected”. The forum and expo will focus on promoting innovative technologies, raising awareness, and fostering sustainable collaborations in the energy sector.

The trade show is expected to attract more than 200 exhibitors and manufacturers from countries including India, China, Malaysia, UAE, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, among others.

Speaking at the launch of the exhibition at her office in Kampala, Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa described the event as a key opportunity for local businesses to engage with international companies and to promote sectoral growth.

“The business community in this sector has a chance to showcase technologies, but also to discuss key policy challenges, such as how to close technological gaps and the national innovation systems required to foster technological progress,” she said.

Highlighting milestones in Uganda’s energy sector, Nankabirwa cited the completion of the Karuma Hydro Power Project, improvements in rural electrification, the rollout of electric vehicle [EV] charging infrastructure, the biofuels policy, and developments in the country’s nuclear energy agenda.

Exhibitors are expected to showcase a wide range of innovations, including solar accessories, and power and telecom products.

The expo will bring together national and international players from across the power sector to display the latest innovations, exchange knowledge, and facilitate business-to-business engagements. Participants will include manufacturers and suppliers of power products, importers and exporters, dealers in energy, electricals, electronics, electro-energetics, renewables, solar products, and a broad array of end users.

Among the local partners supporting the expo are the National Electrical Contractors Association [NECA], Uganda National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Alliance [UNREEEA], Uganda Solar Energy Association [USEA], and the Uganda Manufacturers Association [UMA].

It is worth noting that Uganda has witnessed a boom in the energy sector, despite ongoing structural challenges that continue to hinder its full potential.
