New platform gathers sustainability projects from across the global coffee sector

The Coffee Sustainability Support Database [C2SD], previously known as the Coffee Sustainability Initiatives Map, now features an improved interface with intuitive dashboards

LONDON, June 20, 2025 ‒‒ The International Coffee Organisation [ICO] has relaunched the Coffee Sustainability Support Database, an interactive digital platform designed to enhance transparency, collaboration, and strategic alignment across sustainability initiatives in the global coffee sector.

The Coffee Sustainability Support Database [C2SD], previously known as the Coffee Sustainability Initiatives Map, now features an improved interface with intuitive dashboards, including a dedicated Country View and Project View. This updated platform serves as a centralized public resource to improve access to information on more than 400 sustainability projects in coffee producing countries.

“We are very proud of the new Coffee Sustainability Support Database, which reflects our ongoing commitment to the ICO’s mission of promoting the sustainable and inclusive growth of and by the global coffee sector,” said Vanúsia Nogueira, Executive Director of the International Coffee Organisation [ICO].

A shared tool for greater impact

The Coffee Sustainability Support Database is designed to foster alignment and cooperation among stakeholders by offering a clear overview of public and private sustainability efforts underway around the world. The C2SD is the result of a collective effort initiated by members of the ICO’s Coffee Public-Private Task Force [CPPTF] Technical Workstream 3 – Importing Countries [TW3 IMP], and supported by the International Trade Centre [ITC] through its Alliances for Action initiative – the Coffee Guide Network.

Whether used by a coffee institution, bilateral donor, international organisation, NGO, or coffee company, this platform will enable the sector to: Foster collaboration, co-investment and knowledge exchange across the value chain; Strengthen and scale up individual efforts by aligning with a broader, collective strategy; Identify synergies, overlaps, and funding gaps to enable smarter, more impactful investment decisions.

While the ICO facilitates and hosts the platform, voluntary contributions are open to all stakeholders throughout the global coffee value chain. Each project entry provides information on its location, scope, implementation period, budget, participating organisations and links to official websites. An online form is also available to allow for easy submission of new or updated information to the database after validation.

Furthermore, the C2SD will broaden its coverage to include projects from development banks and investment funds within the coffee sector. The C2SD is expected to become a key reference tool for coordinating investments for the sustainability of the sector, providing all relevant information on its gaps, needs and opportunities

“Since its inception, the goal of the Coffee Sustainability Support Database has been to consolidate scattered information and make it accessible to key stakeholders. This relaunch marks a major step forward in that mission, offering enhanced tools for decision-making, collaboration and strategic funding”, concludes Vanúsia Nogueira.
