Namisindwa district launches Shs 330mln bridge project

The construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in one month.

NAMISINDWA, July 22, 2024 – The Namisindwa District Local Government has launched a Shs 330 million construction of Namikhoma Bridge under Development Funds Programme.

Namikhoma Bridge will connect Lwakhakha town council to Bumwoni Sub-county, and is expected to ease transportation of people and their goods.

According to Robert Mukelule, Acting Namisindwa District Engineer, the construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in one month.

On his part, the Namisindwa district LCV Chairperson, Jackson Wakweika said that this year alone, four people and animals lost their lives as the river burst its banks, bringing about floods.

Imran Muluga, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner warned the contractor against doing shoddy work.

He urged the locals to embrace the project and own it, saying it will spur development in the area that produces crops like coffee, maize, beans, and others.

Simon Peter Bwayo, a boda boda rider urged the contractor to employ area residents.

Salimu Wamoka, another a resident urged the district to form a committee that will monitor works to avoid shoddy works.
