Mob lynches coffee thieves in botched robbery of cooperative

MACHAKOS-Two suspected thieves have been killed by an irate mob in Mitaboni, Kathiani Sub-county of Machakos County, reports Sacco review.

The two were among 13 suspected thieves who broke into Kithima Farmers Co-operative Society in a bid to steal coffee, Sacoo review adds.

It reports that the witnesses said the thieves armed with crude weapons raided the factory and tied up the guards on watch and beat them thoroughly.

They managed to hold two guards hostage as the third one escaped and alerted residents who wasted no time in coming to help.

The residents accosted the thieves and arrested the two while the rest managed to escape.

They then descended on them with blows, kicks, and weapons killing them before setting their bodies on fire.

“They entered the society and attacked the guards with weapons before tying them with ropes. They then went ahead to steal coffee bags. unaware that there was another guard who escaped. They were caught by locals who were alerted by the third guard,” said the witness.

The society manager noted that the incident has been reported to the police and investigations into the incident have began.
