Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery graduates 1,390  students 

MBALE – A total of 1, 390 students over the weekend graduated from Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery in a ceremony held at its campus in Mbale City.

While speaking at the graduation event, Mathew Okuda Okello, the health institution’s principal, said the graduands received certificates in Enrolled Nursing, Midwifery, Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery and Extension Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery.

“We are celebrating the success of our collective efforts, commitment, hard work, and dedication that our graduands mastered to make up to this day. We thank the government for providing the environment and support in training and skilling the health workforce for this nation [Uganda],” Okello said.

He said Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery has grown from a student population of 53 in 2010 up to 1,209 in 2023, and so far, they have produced 1,138 nurses and 753 midwives for the country’s health sector.

Pastor Jefferson Stephen Okello, chairman board of directors and Governing asked President Museveni to support the institution.

Owere Usher Wilson, chairman general of the National Organisation of Trade Union [NOTU], noted there is demand for nurses within the country and outside, urging the Ministry of Health to deploy the new nurses and midwives passed out by Mbale School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Rosette Kazaire, the head of mobilisation Office of the National Chairman National Resistance Movement [NRM] commended parents for educating their children.

“Uganda is a celebrated worldwide as a nation with good performance in health. I appeal to the graduands to be persistent,” she said.
