Mbale City: Pearl Bank donates water tanks and food items to IUIU

MBALE CITY, March 16, 2026 — On Friday, Pearl Bank Uganda conducted a community outreach at Islamic University in Uganda [IUIU] Mbale Main Campus, donating two 10,000-litre water tanks and assorted food items in recognition of the holy month of Ramadan and the Women’s Month season.

The initiative, according to the Bank, aims to foster prosperity among Ugandans through its Corporate Social Investment [CSI] initiative.

Arafat Zaake, The Mbale Branch Manager of Pearl Bank Uganda said, they’re pleased to collaborate with the IUIU community as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.

He explained that the two water tanks were donated to IUIU’s Summayyah and Abu-Mayanja hostels to provide sustainable access to clean water for students.

Zaake added that the bank also donated assorted food items, including cooking oil, rice, wheat flour, and sugar, to support vulnerable students as they break their fast during Ramadan and share joy on Eid al-Fitr.

“As a bank, we will continue supporting the university and the surrounding community. We also encourage the community to support the bank by conducting their financial transactions with us,” Zaake said.

Assoc. Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda the Rector of IUIU, welcomed the donation and expressed gratitude to Pearl Bank Uganda [formally PostBank Uganda] for supporting the university and its community.

“We are delighted to have our partners Pearl Bank donate two water tanks to the campus and food items for vulnerable students, staff, and the surrounding community. We thank them for this generous gesture,” Gyagenda said.

He also appreciated the Bank for sharing with the community during Ramadan and urged other institutions to emulate such initiatives.

Gyagenda noted that partnerships with like-minded organizations help the university achieve its goal of serving the community.

Pearl Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that complement government efforts in line with Fourth National Development Plan [NDP IV], which aims to accelerate Uganda’s socio-economic transformation by 2040.
