Kapchorwa PWDs empowered with financial management skills
The skills gained from the training are crucial for PWDs to manage their finances effectively and make informed business decisions

KAPCHORWA, April 9, 2025 –– Show Abilities Uganda [SAU], a national umbrella organisation for youth with disabilities in Uganda, has made a significant move towards the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities [ PWDs ] through a pilot project in the subcounties of Kaserem, Amukol, and the Central Division, Kapchorwa Municipality, in Kapchorwa district.
The organisation recently held a training session aimed at equipping PWDs with essential financial management skills. The event, which was attended by 50 participants, focused on record keeping, saving, budgeting, cash flow management, and risk management, among other topics.
The skills gained from the training are crucial for PWDs to manage their finances effectively and make informed business decisions.
Betty Cheptoek, the Executive Director of SAU, addressed the PWDs after the training at Kaserem Subcounty headquarters. She expressed her satisfaction with the training, noting that it had empowered the participants with vital financial skills that would help them achieve financial independence.
She continued, “Persons with disabilities have the right to equal opportunities and active participation in the economic affairs of Uganda.” She emphasised the importance of helping PWDs access affordable finance.
“Through this tailored training and knowledge-sharing, we are confident that our participants are now able to manage their finances effectively and reach their economic goals,” she said.

She urged the leadership of Kaserem, Amukol, and the Central Division in Kapchorwa Municipality to advocate for the rights of PWDs, adding that SAU would continue to create more inclusive and equitable opportunities for PWDs throughout the country.
