Indian co-operators remember nationalist Sardar Patel
NEW DELHI-The top cooperatives in the country including Amul, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited [IFFCO] and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India [NAFED], among others, remembered the Iron Man of the country Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birthday and vowed to follow his path of honesty and dedication.
The officials of the Cooperation Ministry also took an oath of integrity on this occasion as the official handle of the Ministry tweeted “Today, on 31 October, an oath of integrity was taken by the officers and employees of the Ministry of Cooperation on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week [31 Oct-6 Nov]. On the occasion, a “Swearing-in” ceremony was organised in the Ministry of Cooperation.
Bowing before the Sardar Patel statue, National Co-operative Union of India [NCUI] President Dileep Sanghani said “Tributes to the great advocate of national integrity and unity, the builder of today’s India, the visionary politician “Iron Purush” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ji on his birth anniversary.”
Amul, the leading dairy cooperative observed the day by organizing an impressive event as it coincided with Amul’s 70th foundation day. In a tweet Amul paid tributes to Sardar Patel and said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel inspired farmers to form a co-op society in 1946 to provide stable and remunerative prices for their produce.
The agri cooperative NAFED observed National Unity Day celebrated on 31st October every year, on the birthday of Sardar Patel. Nafed marked the observance of Vigilance Awareness from 31st Oct- 6th Nov. Managing Director Rajbir Singh Panwar administered the integrity pledge to employees of the federation at the agri-cooperative headquarters in New Delhi.
IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi paid his tributes through a tweet “Tribute to Sardar Patel ji on his birth anniversary, who fulfilled the dream of Shreshtha Bharat by tying the whole of India in one thread. Iron man Sardar Patel ji had tied the whole of India in the thread of unity. On Ekta Diwas, take a pledge to make the country self-reliant and strong.”
On the occasion, National Dairy Development Board [NDDB] Chairman Meenesh Shah administered the National Unity Day Pledge and Integrity Pledge to senior officers of NDDB.
Amit Shah, Union Cooperation Minister participated in several events on the day. Shah said “Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill had said that India would be fragmented as soon as the British left. But Sardar Saheb united the country and today India has become the 5th largest economy of the world, leaving Britain behind. Sardar Patel laid the foundation for the world’s most mature democracy”, he added.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also paid tributes to Sardar Patel by visiting the Statue of Unity. Modi wrote “I paid homage to the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 147th birth anniversary by paying homage at the ‘Statue of Unity’ at Kevadia, Gujarat.”
