BRUSSELS, July 8, 2026 — International Cooperative Alliance [ICA] has launched a global Impact Assessment Survey to gather feedback from cooperators worldwide on the legacy and achievements of the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives 2025 [IYC2025].
The survey aims to evaluate the impact of the year-long global campaign and help shape priorities for the international cooperative movement ahead of the next United Nations International Year of Cooperatives, which will be observed in 2035 following the UN’s decision to celebrate the initiative every 10 years.
Held under the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World,” IYC2025 highlighted the critical role of cooperatives in fostering inclusive, resilient and sustainable societies. Throughout the year, the campaign focused on raising public awareness of cooperatives and their contribution to sustainable development, promoting cooperative growth and development, advocating for supportive policy and institutional frameworks, and inspiring future generations of cooperative leaders and members.
Inviting cooperators to participate in the survey, ICA Director General Jeroen Douglas said the organisation was keen to capture experiences and lessons from across the global cooperative movement.
“Your feedback will help us assess the impact of the International Year and identify some of the key lessons that you, your sectors, regions and communities learned over the 12 months,” Douglas said of the survey whose link can be found on the ICA website.
He added that responses would also help shape the cooperative movement’s priorities in preparation for the next UN International Year of Cooperatives in 2035.
The survey, which takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, will contribute to the IYC2025 Impact Report, scheduled for publication later this year.
The ICA has encouraged cooperatives and their members to share the survey widely across their networks to ensure broad participation. The survey will remain open until July 30, 2026.
