HOIMA CITY, January 24, 2025 – Parents, teachers, and pupils in Hoima City are elated following an impressive performance in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations [PLE] whose results were released yesterday in Kampala.
After the UNEB Executive Director, Dan Odongo, announced the results that were also presented by the First Lady who doubles as the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, parents, and children flocked to their schools to see how they had performed.
A total of 84,301 candidates passed in Division One, compared to 86,582 in 2023. Meanwhile, 397,589 candidates passed in Division Two, 165,284 were in Division Three, and 75,556 were in Division Four. However, 64,215 candidates failed or were ungraded.
At the various schools this reporter visited in Hoima City, parents, pupils, and teachers were celebrating the excellent performance.
At St. Jude Nursery and Primary School in Hoima City, 95 candidates passed in Division One, while 20 were in Division Two.
Five candidates scored four aggregates: Tusiime Daniel Christian, Oyerwot Ethan, Hashim Murungi, Keron Bainomugisa, and Caesar Ayebale.
The top-performing candidates expressed their excitement about their results, thanking God for wisdom and their parents for their guidance and support. They said they aspired to become lawyers, engineers, doctors, and bankers.
The Director of St. Jude, Noeline Nsungwa Abooki, said the performance was outstanding and attributed it to the strong collaboration between teachers and parents.
Scovia Katusabe, the mother of Keron Bainomugisa, said her daughter’s performance was a pleasant surprise, and she thanked God and the teachers who helped her daughter succeed.
At Flobbeto Nursery and Primary School in Hoima City, 147 candidates sat the exams. Of these, 139 were in Division One, and five candidates scored four aggregates, with several others scoring five aggregates.
The candidates who achieved four aggregates include Tumwine Francesca Mavis, Linda Lauritah Maxmilliana, Ampaire Karungi Valerian, Alinda Peace Constance, and Mpuga Isac Mark, while Kirongo Fred and Abaasa Michelle each scored five aggregates.
Dominic Karyarugoku, the head teacher of Flobbeto, expressed his delight at the results, calling them a great motivation to strive for even better outcomes in the future.
“These were our pioneer candidates; we started with them when we opened the school in 2014. Their success is the result of the dedicated efforts of our teachers, from baby class onwards,” he said.
The candidates were excited about the results and eager to join secondary school to pursue their futures. They thanked God and their parents for their achievements.
Remijusi Ampaire, the father of Ampaire Karungi Valerian, said his daughter’s performance was a gift and a reward from God, especially given the financial struggles they had faced to pay for her schooling.
“This is the first time anyone in our family has achieved such results. That’s why I say it was a gift and reward from God,” he said.
At Central Nursery and Primary School in Hoima City, 43 candidates sat the exams. Of these, 16 passed in Division One, 27 in Division Two, and two candidates achieved seven aggregates.
Angel Mbabazi Asinguza and Denis Tumwebaze each scored seven aggregates. Asinguza expressed her joy about her results, adding that she had not expected such an outcome.
At Canaan Nursery and Primary School in Kikuube district, the performance was exceptional, with a 100 percent pass rate. The school had 40 candidates, all of whom passed in Division One. 11 candidates scored five aggregates, eight achieved six aggregates, and 14 attained seven aggregates.
