Hard work pays: MSC rewards Apac veterans’ SACCO with office equipment

APAC– Apac Municipal Veteran Emyooga SACCO has received office equipment, thanks to Uganda Microfinance Support Center [MSC].

The equipment that includes a computer laptop and a three-in-one printer were donated to the SACCO following their outstanding performance in the Emyooga programme.

Emyooga is the presidential initiative on job and wealth creation intended to support 18 categories of associations namely; the veterans, boda boda riders, welders, fishermen, performing artists, carpenters and journalists, among others.

In 2021, Apac Municipal Veteran Emyooga SACCO received seed capital of Shs 30 million. The fund was part of Shs 1.5 billion disbursed to 50 SACCOs in Apac Municipality, Maruzi North and Maruzi South counties in Apac district.

However, Apac Municipal Veteran Emyooga SACCO was named the best performing SACCO beating Maruzi South Fishermen SACCO, Maruzi North Carpenters, Apac Municipal Journalists SACCO and Maruzi South Carpenters’ Emyooga SACCO.

The veteran’s SACCO received the equipment, a few months after receiving an additional funding of Shs 20mln.

While handing over the equipment on Tuesday, Abraham Kiza, an official from MSC commended the SACCO for hard work.

“As per the assessment, your SACCO has grown rapidly to a loan portfolio of Shs 70mln. Your savings have also grown. Members are paying the loans well and I am giving you a computer laptop programmed in such a way that, it will communicate with Uganda Microfinance Support Center for easy submission of your reports, “he said.

Alfred Otim Bilal, the chairman of the SACCO commended MSC for their support, saying the equipment donated will now ease their work.

“I take this chance to thank so much the Microfinance Support Center for giving us the equipment just a few months after giving us an additional Shs. 20mln. This computer and the printer will indeed ease our work and I promise you, we are committed to developing this SACCO because it’s ours,” he said.

James Eboni Oyuru, the Apac district commercial officer asked leaders of the veteran’s SACCO to take good care of the office equipment.

“As the district leaders, we are so proud of you. I urge you to keep this office equipment jealously. You’re so lucky to get this equipment but keep it well and let it serve its purpose of simplifying your work,” he said.

Apac Municipal Veteran Emyooga SACCO is one of the best-performing Emyooga SACCOs in the country. The SACCO with seven associations making 210 members, has a current loan portfolio of Shs 70mln.
