Farmers relived as CMC opens service centre in Fort Portal

FORT PORTAL – In a bid to bring services closer to the people of Rwenzori Sub region, Cooper Motors Corporation (CMC) Uganda Limited has opened a service center in Fort Portal City and among the groups to benefit will be the farmers.

This means farmers in Rwenzori sub region will no longer have to take their tractors to Kampala for servicing, thus reducing the budget the travel expenses.

The CMCs sales manager passenger vehicle division, Richard Musani who represented the country manager said their clients have been incurring costs while taking their tractors to Kampala for servicing.

“Our clients like farmers need services closer to them because they are driven by seasons. It is time-consuming for them to take their tractors to Kampala for servicing but when the service is brought nearer to them, it becomes easier for them,” he said.

He said that they have partnered with Gaz Fort Portal and have opened their service center at their petrol station in Maguru Fort Portal City to serve the entire sub region.

“We have very many clients in Rwenzori sub region and as a way of making it easier for them to service their vehicles we have decided to bring services closer to them,” he said.

He said many institutions use their products and this will enable them to obtain convenient services.

“Ford is the highest selling product in the Rwenzori sub region. RDCs, local government officials, and other government institutions have Ford vehicles and will be doing their routine services from here,” he said.

The Kabarole Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Festus Bandeeba appreciated the timely intervention by CMC saying not only will it help government institutions to service their cars, but also farmers.

“You have come at a time when we are agitating for a regional service center. This is a very big notch on the administration because government institutions have been incurring a lot of money going to Kampala to service their vehicles even for minor repairs,” he noted.

Bandeeba is also optimistic that the service center will also create jobs for the people who will be working there.
