SOROTI, February 7, 2024 – The Paramount Chief [ Emorimor ] of Iteso Cultural Union [ICU], Papa Sande Emolot has called upon the youth in his jurisdiction to be enterprising if they are to exploit business opportunities.
The Emorimor made the call days ago while addressing the youth at Ateker Young Entrepreneurs Symposium which took place in Soroti Senior Secondary School.
He advised the youth aspiring to become successful entrepreneurs to consider mentorship as one of the important aspects of achieving that success.
The cultural leader further advised the young people to embrace the culture of saving, saying some business opportunities require liquid cash.
“An opportunity may come up when banks are closed on weekends but with liquid cash you will always achieve your dreams,” he said.
Besides, the Emorimor also encouraged youth to embrace coffee farming, saying it is one of the most profitable ventures that should not go untapped. “Let us grow coffee because it is profitable,” he said.
He said the youth should support one another in order to achieve development and continue networking among themselves to explore new ideas, pledging to lobby for funds that can help support the youth who don’t have capital but have ideas that need to be explored.
Meanwhile, Gerald Otim, Manager Equity Bank Soroti Branch advised the youth to read they read approach people who can mentor them in business. “Understand the world , know how to position yourself with right people,” he said.
George Okoit, the Team Leader who was the chief organiser of the symposium urged the young people to read about entrepreneurship.
Stella Ariokot, CEO Rehh Vocational Institute urged the youth to change work hard if they want develop.
