KAMPALA, September 5, 2026 — The East African Community [ EAC ] Secretariat has called on users across the Partner States to participate in an ongoing User Satisfaction Survey aimed at improving the quality and usefulness of regional statistics.
The survey, being conducted under the Eastern Africa Regional Statistics Programme for Results [EARSPforR], provides users with an opportunity to influence how EAC regional statistics are produced, communicated, accessed and used.
The Secretariat is seeking feedback on the quality, relevance, reliability, timeliness, accessibility and usefulness of regional statistics.
The survey will also assess users’ experiences with EAC statistical publications, services and dissemination platforms, including challenges that may hinder access to or the effective use of regional data.
Focus on user-centred statistics
According to the EAC Secretariat, findings from the survey will help identify what is working well, areas where users face difficulties and improvements that should be prioritised.
The evidence gathered is expected to guide the development of more responsive statistical products, strengthen data dissemination and communication, and improve access to regional statistics.
Better access to reliable and timely statistics is considered important for policy-making, planning, research, business, public accountability and informed public debate across the East African region.
Who should participate?
The EAC is encouraging a wide range of statistical users to take part in the survey.
These include government institutions, national statistics offices, central banks and other institutions within national statistical systems, as well as regional organisations, private-sector players, universities and research institutions.
Development partners, civil society organisations, the media, independent researchers and other users of EAC regional statistics are also encouraged to participate.
Participation in the survey is voluntary, and the Secretariat says responses will be treated confidentially.
Respondents have been encouraged to provide open and candid feedback to ensure that the survey accurately captures users’ experiences, challenges and priorities.
EAC urges users to take part
The Secretariat has urged all users of EAC regional statistics to complete the online questionnaire, saying broad participation will help ensure that future improvements reflect the needs of the region’s diverse data users.
