BRUSSELS, August 24, 2026 — The deadline for submitting papers to the IX Continental Congress on Cooperative Law and II International Symposium on Cooperative Law has been extended to August 31, 2026.
The events will be held in Panama on September 16-17, as part of the International Cooperative Alliance [ICA] and Cooperatives of the Americas Global Conference and Assemblies.
The Congress and Symposium will bring together legal experts and other stakeholders to discuss legal issues affecting the present and future of the cooperative movement.
Held under the theme “Cooperative Law in the Face of Today’s Challenges”, the events will focus on the role of cooperative law in strengthening cooperative identity, democratic governance, integration and innovation, as well as creating enabling legal frameworks for cooperatives.
Participants wishing to present papers have been invited to submit proposals to derecho@aciamericas.coop by the new deadline of August 31.
Santosh Kumar, ICA Director of Legislation, said the Continental Congress on Cooperative Law had become an important tradition within Cooperatives of the Americas and had inspired many cooperative lawyers.
He said the International Symposium, now in its second year, would build on that legacy by providing an opportunity to address pressing questions on cooperative law, with peace at the centre of discussions.
The events will take place at the Panama Convention Centre, the same venue hosting the Global Conference.
Delegates registered for the Global Conference will be able to attend the Congress and Symposium at no additional cost.
