Coops based on values can never fail, says Thakur
NEW DELHI – The President of Pan India organisation of Cooperators and Cooperatives [Sahakar Bharti], ND Thakur has said that the future of the country is safe in the hands of cooperatives as they alone have the potential to generate massive employment in the villages.
Thakur said days ago this while addressing a cooperative awareness event organised by Sahakar Bharati Punjab’s Rupnagar unit at Noorpur Bedi.
Thakur said that people living in villages have the power to change the picture of the country. It’s the mandate of the Sahakar Bharati to remind them of their strength and instill self-confidence in them, he added.
Thakur said that cooperatives that are based on values can never fail. Stressing the importance of sanskar [values] in Sahakar [coops], Thakur said that the cooperative should not look up to the government of the day for every issue.
Once the govt offers an enabling framework for the growth of coops, its role ceases, underlined the President who was formerly a senior officer in the Cooperation Ministry. Thakur in his old avatar is credited with registering the maximum number of multistate coops during his tenure.
“We should always remember our duty towards cooperation,” he said adding food and energy and water are the future of the country and co-ops have to focus on them.
The solutions to the problems of villagers are not anywhere else but with them only, said Thakur adding only with self-confidence and self-respect, we can change our country and the world.
Talking about the current situation in the state of Punjab, Thakur said youths need to be roped into the cooperative sector so that we can save not only them but also the country, society, and agriculture in the process.
Punjab Sahakar Bharati President Balram Das Bawa said that cooperatives can strengthen the economy of the villages thereby strengthening the economy of the country.
On this occasion, Surjit Singh Kahlon, Director, Verka Milk Plant, Mohali, Satbir Singh, Director, KVK Rupnagar, Ankurdeep and Sandeep Ahuja, KVK, Deputy, Verka Milk Plant, Mohali were present.
