Construction of Asamuk Seed Secondary School kicks off
AMURIA-Amuria district has officially handed over the site for the construction of Asamuk Seed Secondary School in Asamuk Subcounty.
State Minister for Works Musa Echweru, Lillian Eyai, the Amuria resident district commissioner, and district LCV chairperson, Moses Emabu, days ago handed over the contract to Sanitation Africa, the contractors selected to undertake the project.
The process for the construction works began after the district received Shs 3.1 billion government commitment to have the school established.
Lillian Eyai, resident district commissioner Amuria, welcomed the project and promised to work with the local leaders for better service delivery.
“I will be in touch with Amuria leaders to see that this project is done well, “Eyai said.
She said the project should yield better results and emphasized that the contractor does good work.
Samuel Malinga, director Sanitation Africa, pledged to do good work which will keep students in a healthy environment.
He also said the construction of this schools, will bring education closer to the communities which will increase literacy rates in the area.
The construction of the classrooms, multipurpose hall, science laboratory, ICT laboratory, and latrines is to commence effective December 1, 2022, and be completed in 2024.
Minister Echweru who doubles as Amuria County Member of Parliament, said Asamuk Sub-county is lucky to receive the money in a lump sum to construct the school and lauded government for the project.
He cautioned the contractor over shoddy works and appealed to them to do quality work. “The quality of the work must be second to none,” he cautioned.
Echweru also said that time given for the construction must be adhered to so that the second phase of adding A’ level classrooms keeps on track.
He added the project will give opportunities to the local communities to work and therefore emphasized that locals should be employed where there are no technicalities needed like labourers and equally local materials be got from the area.
“The locals must get jobs here to improve their livelihood and I promise to monitor the project to the later,” Echweru said.
Other schools whose construction has been awarded to the same contractors include Toroma Seed Secondary School in Katakwi and Morita Seed Secondary School in Nakapiripiti.
