KAGADI – Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom has started implementing a Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom (BKK) model household campaign.
The model envisions a peaceful, prosperous, stable, social economically self- sustaining home that has conducive shelter, shades, a source of water, food for consumption and sale as well as a clean environment.
Under the project, the Kingdom is using indigenous knowledge, skills and items which blend with modern science.
This also includes; the promotion of traditional herbs in treating indigenous chicken, planting of indigenous seeds which many homes have abandoned in favor of genetically modified foods.
A model household is one of the projects which His Royal Majesty Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru , the Omukama of Bunyoro tasked the administration to implement in line with his desire to see a prosperous and great BKK.
More than 30 Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Chiefs concluded their training on how to implement the desired model household in their respective areas of duty.
The training was held at the farm of a one Kisembo, an intensive commercial farmer in Kyenzige sub-county Kagadi district.
The project will support Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Chiefs to be role models, mobilisers and implementers of the initiative.
While presiding over the pass-out of Chiefs, the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom then Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga challenged the Chiefs to mobilise the King’s subjects to embrace the ongoing transformation programs in the Kingdom.
“If well embraced, the desired household model will transform families and the entire Kingdom in general. The King wants his people to have homes that are productive, peaceful and economically stable so that they meet their needs and undertake development projects,” said Byakutaaga.
The Kingdom also intends to work with its partners to support families with trainings and inputs that will enable them achieve the project objectives.
The Chiefs promised to act as an example in implementing the program explaining that they were going to use the knowledge acquired resourcefully.
