Bardoli Janata Cooperative celebrates Millet Day

NEW DELHI– Bardoli Janata Co-operative Credit Society in India recently held a Millets festival in which local villagers and members took part in celebrating 2023 as the International Year of Millets.

Inaugurating the function, Dr G H Amin – the Chairman of The Gujarat State Co-operative Credit Societies Federation shed light on various millets and their benefits for human health.

Heading a federation of 6000 Credit Societies of Gujarat State, Amin explained various benefits of Millets underlining that it requires less water than rice & wheat and is very tolerant of heat. They are extremely beneficial for human health, he added.

Amin further shared information with the participants about the G20 and the Millet Year Celebrations. He also congratulated the society for spreading awareness about the Millet Year, a press release said recently.

Speaking as the chair on this occasion, Ishwarbhai Parmar urged people to consume Millets more and more and strengthen their health. He assured that the millet farmers would be provided with all possible help by the government.

A special book dealing with various recipes of Millets was launched on the occasion.

A large number of prominent people and cooperative functionaries including Nareshbhai Patel, chairman of Surat District Bank J.J Shah Retired Joint Registrar, Dhruvinbhai Patel, registrar of Surat District and others also addressed the function.

The Bardoli Janata Cooperative Credit Society has about 7500 members are associated with it.

Several agricultural scientists who graced the occasion also explained Millets and their health benefits.
