Alumni unveil Shs 700mln plan to revamp Aduku SS

KWANIA-The former students of Aduku SS under the umbrella of Aduku Secondary School Old Students Association [ASSOSA] have launched a fundraising drive to rehabilitate the dilapidated school structures.

Dubbed “Cement Collection Drives @30K every Bag of Cement Counts”, the drive is aimed at soliciting financial support from former students and well-wishers to rehabilitate the school.

Dr. Emmanuel Okello, the Chairperson ASSOSA said that their plan is to raise Shs 700 million to rehabilitate the school laboratory, library, and dormitories to improve the performance of the school.

“The school is operating under very dilapidated structures imagine from the time of establishment in 1956 up to now no main renovation was done. We have so far collected Shs 400mln and we still need more money to allow us to revamp this school,” he said.

“I am calling upon the Old students, the business fraternity, and well-wishers to come and support us in this course in order to improve on the educational performance,” he added.

The school rehabilitation plan was unveiled on Wednesday by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu. Kaziima in his remarks commended the former students of the school for the vision to revamp the school.

“I thank you the old students for this wise initiative.  As Church of Uganda leadership, we appreciate and support this move. I would like to inform you that as the foundation body we are engaging with the government to ensure our traditional secondary schools are renovated,” he said.

Azzo Odama, the head teacher, welcomed the development. He said constructing a science Laboratory will go a long way to improve science performance of the school.

Aduku secondary school was established in 1956 as a junior school under the foundation of the Anglican Church. The school was taken over by the government in 1967.
