Alebtong VHTs urged to form SACCO

ALEBTONG-The Government Chief, Denis Hamson Obua has appealed to members of village health teams [VHTs] in Ajuri County, Alebtong district to form a SACCO to support their meagre earnings.

Addressing VHTs, LC3 chairpersons, and in-charges of health centres at Baropiro Primary School in Omoro Sub-county, during the handover of the new ambulance he offered, Obua said he is ready to support the SACCO with Shs 5 million as soon as it is formed.

This followed a request by the VHTs that he supports them with bicycles for easy movement, give them personal protective gears and support their income generating projects.

“I want to ask you to come together and start SACOO as VHTs. When you start just inform me of the progress. The only little money I will offer to support the project will be Shs 5mln,” Obua, the Ajuri County Member of Parliament, said.

Ajuri County has six sub-counties, which include Omoro, Abako, Amugu, Angetta, Awei, Adwir and Amugu Town Council. The County has over 400 VHT members.

He emphasised that his help will only come when the VHT members form a SACCO. “It is upon you to come together and start saving and if you show commitment and progress realised, I will not hesitate to contribute.

Alebtong district Woman Member of Parliament, Dorcus Acen, called upon the members to support all government programmes aimed at fighting poverty in the households.
