ALEBTONG, March 31, 2025 – Alebtong district has officially launched the construction of a Shs 1.3 billion road as part of the National Oil Seeds Project [NOSP], funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development [IFAD] and the OPEC International Fund for Agricultural Development.

The construction of the 12-kilometre road stretch in Adwir Subcounty was recently launched by the Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ajuri County, at Alololo Trading Centre.

The contract for the road construction, which spans from Okuru to Alololo to Okomo, has been awarded to JB United Civil Engineering and Building Contractors. According to district engineer David Puce, the project is expected to be completed within eight months.

Obua stated that the road project is part of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure for socio-economic transformation in the region. He added that the project is being implemented in 81 districts across the country, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries [MAAIF] and the Ministry of Local Government [MoLG].

Obua also highlighted other developments made possible by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government under President Yoweri Museveni, including the establishment of Adwir Seed School, the upgrading of Adwir Centre, and the ongoing road construction.

He encouraged the people of Alebtong to fully embrace the government programmes such as the Parish Development Model [PDM] and Emyooga as key strategies in the fight against household poverty.
