Afreximbank ready to develop country programme for Uganda

KAMPALA, September 1, 2026 — Finance Minister Henry Musasizi this morning received the new African Export-Import Bank [ Afreximbank ] Regional Director for East Africa, Humphrey Nwugo, at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Kampala.

The Minister thanked the Bank for aligning its interventions with Uganda’s Tenfold Growth Strategy, adding that the Government is ready to work closely with Afreximbank to ensure that projects in the pipeline are implemented.

On his part, Nwugo said Afreximbank is growing from strength to strength and remains committed to supporting Uganda’s growth journey towards a US$ 500 billion economy.

He highlighted areas of interest under the ATMS, particularly agro-industrialisation, tourism development and mineral development, as well as key enablers such as infrastructure development.

Nwugo was accompanied by Farida Mukasa, Senior Specialist for Client Relations in East Africa, and Daniel Katumba, Manager for Client Relations in East Africa.
