RABAT, November 18, 2024 — Resourced, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming food systems for an abundant future, launched the YAMNA-RCAL Grain for Good Campaign, running from November 1, 2024, to January 10, 2025. This initiative, launched early this month, aims to raise US$ 20,000 to support the YAMNA women’s cooperative in Morocco, enhancing their oat production capabilities while showcasing the power of community-driven agricultural innovation.
Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities
The YAMNA cooperative, located in rural Morocco, processes nutrient-rich grains and traditional foods like couscous. Using Resourced’s naturally developed Rich Oats – a non-GMO, protein- and nutrient-dense oat variety – YAMNA creates sustainable meal bases that address local dietary needs. This campaign seeks to provide 1.8 tonnes of pre-milled oats, enabling YAMNA to streamline its production process, reduce costs, and expand its reach.
“Community innovation is the future of food systems,” said Veronica Mulhall, Marketing Communications Director for Resourced. “The YAMNA-RCAL Grain for Good Campaign is a testament to the transformative power of women’s leadership in agriculture. By supporting this initiative, we’re not just feeding families—we’re fueling economic growth, equity, and resilience.”
Mark Nelson, Executive Director of Resourced, emphasised the broader vision: “At Resourced, we believe in unlocking the potential of grassroots innovation. The YAMNA cooperative is proof that local leadership can deliver global solutions. This campaign is more than a fundraiser—it’s an invitation to reimagine how we empower communities to thrive.”
With this support, YAMNA can feed 133 families for an entire month or provide nutritious meals for ~4,000 families in a single day. The initiative will also foster economic growth by creating jobs, empowering women entrepreneurs, and building sustainable food systems in the region.
