580 to graduate at UCU Mbale College 26th graduation ceremony

The ceremony will be held under the theme, “Excellence in Learning, Faith and Service,” and is expected to be presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu

MBALE CITY, November 28, 2025 — A total of 580 students are set to graduate at Uganda Christian University [ UCU Mbale College during its 26th Graduation Ceremony, slated for this Friday at the AGAPE Grounds in Mbale City.

The ceremony will be held under the theme, “Excellence in Learning, Faith and Service,” and is expected to be presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu.

While addressing journalists at a press conference yesterday morning at Mbale Courts View Hotel, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, Rev. Prof. John Kitayimbwa, revealed that 291 male students [51 percent] and 289 female students [49 percent] will be graduating. Of these, seven students attained first-class degrees and Masette Elsie Wokuri emerged as the overall best student.

Kitayimbwa noted that UCU produces graduates who are not only academically sound but also well-rounded in character and values.

He emphasised that the students are equipped with both professional skills and strong moral foundations, preparing them to serve society with empathy, integrity, and competence.

The Chairperson of the College Governing Council, Rt. Rev. Samuel George Bogere Egesa, said the graduation will be a moment of singing glory to God as the institution celebrates a major milestone.

He also announced that the weekend and evening programmes, which had earlier been suspended, will be reinstated, and called upon prospective students to seize the opportunity and register.

The overall best student is Masette Elsie Wokuri pursuing Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration with a CGPA of 4.68.

The overall best male student is Abdul Nasser Majid Matege of Bachelor of Business Administration with a CGPA of 4.62.

The graduands were commissioned yesterday at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Mbale, by the Rt. Rev. John Wilson NandaahBishop of Mbale Diocese.
